TVR – The Sexiest of All British Sports Cars

They drive quickly. They’re sleek, British and very sexy.

They’re the Cheryl Coles, Kelly Brooks, Liz Hurley’s and Sienna Millers of sports car design.

They’re TVR’s…….and they are the zenith of great British sports car engineering.

Forget other analogies of what’s great about Britain, like fish ‘n’ chips, roast beef, cream teas and a pint in a British pub: we’re talking about desire; we’re talking powerful; and we’re talking very sexy…..but we’re not talking dirty.

We’re talking cool; we’re talking exclusive; we’re talking fit; and we’re talking about a date that you want to keep with your next dream car.

The TVR marque has become something of a legend in recent years. Since ceasing production in 2007,the brand has been linked with numerous piston head rumours and the former TVR management team; Russian billionaires; two American businessmen wanting to start production in Orlando of 5,000 units per annum and TVR’s former managing director, David Oxley.

All I can say is ‘keep watching.’

TVR is in the hearts and minds of thousands of enthusiasts and owners, and its manufacturing demise is only temporary.

Aspiring owners can secure these sexy beasts online and from reputable UK TVR dealers.

Parts, servicing and after-sales support is guaranteed through the bona fide dealer supply line, and the vehicles and marque are still many a motorists’ favourite dream.

When it comes to talking about individual models I am in my element, and can wax lyrical about their specifications and characteristic sauciness.

The word that best sums up TVR’s famous Chimaera is…….effortless. Propelled by the legendary TVR Power, a development of the Rover V8,its 4.5 litre [285bhp] engine can take this beauty from 0 to 60mph in 4.7 seconds and propel you from 0 to 100mph in 11.2 seconds. With a top speed of 160 mph you might not be in the quickest car on the road, but you WILL know you’re driving a fun car. Its big bore stainless steel exhaust system emanates an awesome V8 sound and it is optimised for maximum performance.

Aesthetically, the Chimaera is a beautiful design enhanced by 15 inch front and 16 inch rear alloys. One look into the cockpit spells………..seduction on sight. A 350mm leather covered steering wheel is mounted on an adjustable column: everything about the dash design and instrument panel tells you, ‘I’m British and proud of the fact.’

TVR’s Tamara is a fully convertible, 2 seated, 3.6 litres straight 6, rear wheel drive sports car for the fun-loving motorist. Accelerating from 0 to 60mph in 4.4 seconds, it can reach 100mph in 9.5 seconds and 175mph as a top speed. The TVR’s Tamora has got the power and pace to entertain, and exhilarate sports car enthusiasts.

Specifications include ambient air temperature, alarm and engine immobiliser, remote window closing, CD/radio with removable face, and the usual bag of goodies like stainless steel exhaust,16 inch alloys [or Anthracite or Silver] wheels and refined finishing throughout.

TVR’s 2 door, 4 seat coupe – with an integral roll cage – gives the passionate and patriotic British sports car enthusiast an added dimension in interior space, plus power and luxurious comfort. The Cerbera is certainly a class act to follow, if you are trying to play catch-up on the open road. Its

4.2 litre [360bhp] V8 engine will take you from 0 to 60mph in 4.2 seconds. You can quickly reach 100mph from a standing start in only 9.9 seconds and continue up to a maximum speed of 180 mph.

Not forgetting the Cerbera’s 4.5 litre bigger sister, can give you a real adrenaline rush by reaching a top speed of 195mph. Both have sumptuous interiors with all the mod-cons associated with TVR’s advanced engineering, together with ice detectors, electric windows, remote window closing, and alarm and engine immobiliser.

These babes are real head-turners and from the rear might be mistaken for a Jaguar coupe, but not by a TVR pundit.

How can I NOT get excited when mentioning TVR’s Tuscan?

In one word……….temptation.

TVR delivered a 2 seat, straight 6, inline alloy engine with rear wheel drive. The bigger Tuscan S offers 3995cc capacity which will deliver a top speed of 195mph plus. The Tuscan exhibits 18 inch alloys and looks a beast of a babe to handle, but she drives like a dream. From the moment you feast your eyes along the front of her plunging bonnet and towards her seductive eyes,[gas discharge headlights on full beam],your heart will start racing in unison with her 390bhp engine.

Everything about the Tuscan S says simplistic design meets great British engineering: within the interior her machined aluminium trim finish offsets the cockpit interior and innovative steering wheel design like a profound British axiom……..She’s cool. It speaks to you saying………’Drive me for all I’m worth and enjoy the climax at 195mph plus.’

How can anyone resist her pulsating charm and power?

TVR’s prestigious portfolio of classic sports cars and coupes would not be complete without the T350, 2 seat, 3.6 litre straight 6, with rear wheel drive. Its compact good looks are beguiling, and must not deceive motorists as she packs an incredibly responsive performance punch. Any sports animal reaching 60 mph from a standing start in 4.4 seconds is a T350 tiger waiting to be tamed. With her sexy racing seats and interior styling, the T350 has something of sauciness about her demeanour.

18 inch alloys give her an eye-catching, stiletto stature no testosterone petrol head can ignore.

Pull up at the bus stop in this curvaceous centrefold and that stunningly attractive babe whom you drive past every day will be drooling at your asset and she won’t be able to resist your courteous offer………

‘Care for a lift into town in my TVR?’ you ask.

There’s a short pause – which feels like an eternity to you – and then she responds…..

‘I would have preferred the Tuscan S which is a class act and epitomises TVR’s pulsating performance values’.

‘You’re the class act in this conversation, gorgeous, ‘you retort confidently.

‘In that case I know you’re a gentleman and the T350 will not undermine my status in front of all my work colleagues.’

You lean across and open the door and in steps the girl of your dreams. You’re in heaven and the T350 purrs like the babe beside you as you smoothly accelerate away.

If only…….? if only…….?

If only a dream can become a reality, like buying a classic TVR?

For every motorist out there today your dreams CAN soon become a reality, when seeking that special TVR sports car.

Motorists who do use the internet will have no problem finding a classic, second-hand model online.

Load your specifications – which should not include the owner has to be a Kelly Brook lookalike – and before you know it the TVR is within your grasp. Don’t forget to specify the model, engine size, and colour preference, mileage and budget parameters; it will reduce response disappointments.

Girls may prefer the Griffith 500 with its more compact, good looks. DON’T be deceived into a false sense of security as – yet again – TVR have hidden a 5 litre, 90 degree V8 beast beneath the bonnet. She’ll hurtle you from 0 to 60mph in 4.1 seconds and hit 100mph [from a standing start] within 10.5 seconds. Offering a maximum speed of 167mph, you know your natural feminine charms may be overtaken by a sudden urge to become macho and aggressive………and forget the lady within, in your excitement at turning laddish!

There’s a touch of class about the Griffith 500’s walnut dash facia, leather steering wheel, mohair soft-top roof, stainless steel exhaust, tinted glass and 7 spoke alloys. She positively pulsates – even when parked – by deflecting envious glances from jealous motorists.

Let temptation take over your driving aspirations.

Don’t go down the pragmatic pathway by assessing all the reasons why a TVR is not your bag. Do you want to be another boring babe or ‘Going soft guy’?

Avoid driving into the nearest Ford or Vauxhall franchise dealer and inspecting a piece of family motoring mediocrity.

‘Have a little faith’, as Oddball said in Kelly’s Heroes. ‘Always with the negative vibes, have a little faith.’

It’s your turn to have more than a little faith and fun by trusting your better judgement…….and your discerning instinct.

Do some online research to find the TVR of your dreams. Find that sexy design. Seek your very own Cheryl Cole or Liz Hurley sports car lookalike. She out there waiting for you.

Motoring can be fun ‘n’ sexy for everyone.

It can be in a great sports car like a beautiful, British TVR.
