Online Business Ideas That Don’t Require a Trailer in Your Backyard

Online business ideas are not limited to just having a retail site where people order products from you. As an online business owner, there are many ways for you to earn money that don’t require you to ship products or have a merchant account with a bank.

And you won’t need a trailer in your backyard to store all your products!

Although having an online retail store is one option for an online business, you might also consider affiliate marketing, adsense, and selling digital products, including ebooks, as other online business opportunities you can do.

Affiliate marketing is where you act as an agent for a merchant’s product. For instance, let’s say you have a fitness site and you want to sell treadmills. Unfortunately, you don’t have a trailer in your backyard to stock all those treadmills. You can find a merchant that sells treadmills online and you can become an affiliate of their company. You simply recommend their product and link to their online store. As an affiliate of that merchant, you receive a commission if a sale is made.

AdSense is a Google advertising product. You enter into a contract with Google to put AdSense code on your site. It looks like a small box of text with a url at the bottom and is related to the content on your site. For instance, you have an article about treadmills on your site and so the AdSense code generates ads about treadmills. When people click on that ad as it appears on your site, you make money. What you get ranges from ten cents on up per ad depending on the money advertisers are willing to pay for that keyword.

Digital products, such as ebooks (electronic books) are becoming the wave of the future. You can either write your own eBook or you can sell other author’s ebooks. When someone purchases an ebook, they simply download the book to their computer. You can sign up to sell through companies that have catalogs of ebooks. Or, you can write and sell your own ebook. You can also have other people sell your eBook on their site when you become an author and make your ebooks available through the eBook catalog companies. This is, by far, the best way to do it because then you have other people marketing your book. It can be very lucrative.

Finally, if you decide you really do want to sell hard goods through your site, remember that your success depends foremost on creating a website that provides good content for your visitor. That way, you build a relationship with your visitors of trust and credibility and they will be more likely to buy from you rather than someone else.

Quality content on your site also means you will be pleasing the search engines, which is the only way people will be able to find you on the internet. No visitors, no buyers! Once you meet these two criteria, you will be able to offer and successfully sell your hard goods in your online store.
