When you look at the number of food franchises for sale, choosing just one of these can be a daunting task. Do you go with the tried and true fast food franchises, such as McDonald’s or Dunkin Donuts, or do you go for one that is new and exciting, something that is bound to become a hot spot in your area?
While many entrepreneurs have been very successful in finding food franchises for sale that were not “household names” and bringing them to profitability quickly, in these uncertain times most franchise investors start their search on the Top Ten lists.
Entrepreneur Magazine puts together their “Franchise 500” every year, a list that they have spent the past 31 years perfecting, but the most coveted honor for franchisers is to be listed among Entrepreneur’s Top 10 Franchises. For 2010, their top ten list includes three of the best known food franchises for sale in the U.S.; McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts and Subway.
Anyone who is looking for a food franchise for sale would be wise to check into these three franchisers and look for local opportunities to buy one. They may be more expensive at first, but the long-term outlook for these three franchises is much brighter than lesser-known restaurants.
Subway was founded in 1965, and has been franchising their healthier alternative to fast food since 1974. Today the Subway brand is recognized throughout the United States and in several other countries.
Dunkin Donuts started franchising their business in 1955 in Quincy, Massachusetts. Today, they serve 52 different kinds of doughnuts in over thirty countries, and they have expanded their menu to include bagels and other baked goods, as well as a popular selection of coffee drinks. Today they remain one of the top food franchises for sale.
McDonalds got started in 1955, when brothers Dick and Mac McDonald expanded their California hamburger stand to become the most popular chain of fast-food restaurants in the world. Today, the symbolic Golden Arches are known for much more than hamburgers.
